Jan Rymenants lives and works in Antwerp (BE). He studied Experimental Arts at the Institute for Science and Arts, Sint Lucas, Ghent, (BE) and received a Master in Graphic Design, specializing in Film and Video Art, at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp (BE). In 2006, in cooperation with Adriaan Neyens and the artist organization NICC, he developed and co-founded ‘Studio’, an artist in residence program in Antwerp, which first began as an artist contract to renovate empty properties in order to transform them into ateliers and active art spaces.

Rymenants work can be best described as an uninterrupted effort to create situations whereby the spectator is playing a crucial role. His work has appeared in numerous places including S.M.A.K. Ghent, (BE), and Kita, Berlin (DE) and last summer he presented his first solo show at the Piha gallery in Istanbul (TR). At this time he is involved in an intense cooperation with Kristien Bosmans on an experimental book project. It includes the development of alternative methods of production and publishing, focused on heightening the object experience of a book, to produce a unique encounter for every reader.
