Moving Image Club night. This time Brussels based artist Timmy van Zoelen (NL)  presents his selection.

He is a graduate of the MFA program at the Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam and De Ateliers in Amsterdam. Recent solo exhibitions include A Panoplie by Grimoires Gastatelier Leo XIII in Tilburg (2016) and Astroturfer at Galerie Fons Welters in Amsterdam (2014), and group exhibitions at Project Rotterdam at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and #fluidstate #crystalcondition at Hermann Germann Contemporary in Zurich (both 2016) He recently completed a residency at Wiels in Brussels. https://vimeo.com/timmyvanzoelen

Moving Image Club is a series of discussions, scheduled to take place on the first Friday of the month. Revolving around the moving image and its influence in artistic practice. Each discussion will be hosted by artist Ruth Legg and include an invited guest from the visual arts who will be asked to present a number of moving image clips (e.g. artist’s videos, Hollywood movies, TV programmes, music videos, youtube clips, etc.) that are of particular interest for or influence on them. The purpose of Moving Image Club is to focus the conversation directly on the film and video material presented, with the aim to move beyond an analysis of narrative or subject alone and to further consider how cinematic techniques such as editing, lighting, audio, camera angles and montage influence and ultimately shape the content of the moving image. With an emphasis on an informal discussion, this is an opportunity to explore ideas around the moving image without the pressure to draw conclusions.
