Our Relations with the Mountain

Film Screening with Asian Movie Night /

Movie + Traditional Nepalis Food (vegan)

Thursday 5th December, 19:00

We do not wish to conquer the mountain, instead, we want to serve the mountain.

The Weaving Realities collective invites you to take part in this film screening of a documentary from Nepal, co-organised by Asian Movie Night.

A group of experienced Sherpa mountain guides volunteered to climb to the Death Zone of Mount Everest, to pick up the enormous amount of trash that had been left behind by “nature loving” mountaineers from all over the world.

This area is also the origin of water resources for over 1 billion people which has been contaminated by the man-made trash. This group of Sherpa people risk their lives to cleanse the mountain, to clean the water source, out of their deepest love for the mountain which for them is the Goddess herself.

Asian Movie Night is a community cultural project in which selected Asian films are being screened to a public on a bi-weekly basis with curated themes and after-movie sessions to open up discussions. The project aims to introduce more diverse Asian cultures in a comfortable environment and accessible format to a broader audience. It is also to create a physical as well as online community with various cultural backgrounds who are interested in learning about different cultures hence promoting cross-cultural communication and understanding.

Weaving Realities is an artist collective who organizes public performances and workshops around the concept of “sentipensar” thinking through feeling and the concept of “practical decolonization” which aims to re-educate ourselves into living in harmony with each other and with nature. The collective is initiated by  Aldo Esparza Ramos, Teresa Maria Diaz Nerio and Yuchen Li.

This Weaving Realities event is supported by AFK and Stokroos.
